The Group HR Director has set about putting HR at the centre of the Company’s strategy and the on-going growth, development and success of the business now requires the augmentation the Group HR function through the hiring of a Compensation, Benefits & Policy Director. 

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced practitioner with a good balance of experience of both the strategic and operational aspects of Reward.  This is an exciting opportunity to devise and implement a creative and individual reward strategy in a successful and growing business.

Key Result Areas

  • To provide direct HR support to the Business by leading the design & development of C&B strategy across the Company and ensuring the design and implementation of effective C&B policy.
  • To support the Executive and extended Executive Committees together with other managers in the delivery of Cobham C&B policy ensuring compliance with C&B strategy in particular and overall HR strategy in general.
  • To contribute to broader leadership and management of HR across the Company as a member of the HR Leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose and design an overarching C&B strategy for Cobham
  • Act as the primary consultant to senior management on all matters related to Cobham C&B strategy
  • Support to the Executive
  • Preparation of Board papers and materials in support of the Remuneration Committee agenda
  • Functional leadership of C&B within the Cobham HR Community
  • Working with the other members of the HRLT to ensure that C&B strategy is effectively deployed within their respective organisations
  • Propose design and implement base pay structures across Cobham
  • Consistent approach to delivery of benefits across Cobham, taking ownership for existing plans such as the UK Flex Bens programme
  • Benefits programme design and implementation lead
  • Ownership of key ‘cross – Cobham’ HR policy initiatives e.g. Implementation of HRIS, HR outsourcing etc
  • Ownership of the corporate HR budget

Candidate Profile

  • Expert level experience in all areas of C&B (e.g. pay modelling, total compensation planning, long term incentive design, benefits design) and providing HR advice at a senior business level
  • Ability to serve as a strategic partner for senior management and to contribute to the general management of the Company
  • Ability to operate in a geographically diverse organisation effecting change via influence rather than formal reporting lines
  • Team player, able to work at different levels within the organisation
  • High levels of motivation with an emphasis on delivery of timely results
  • Strong relationship building and 'light touch' influencing skills at executive level
  • Practical and pragmatic
  • Good detailed knowledge of legislation, consultancies, networks and salary clubs.
  • Strong analytical ability coupled with the ability to find effective business solutions which take account of both the big picture and the detail.
  • Likeable, with a range of effective influencing skills, personal impact and communication skills that will ensure success and credibility at all levels in the organisation.
  • Personal powers of resilience and industriousness manifested in a constructively challenging style.
  • Awareness of UK Corporate Governance will be a benefit
  • Experience of US as well as UK business will be beneficial
  • Experience of working in highly acquisitive businesses will also be an advantage
