Leadership Development & Learning Consultant

Sunbury, Middlesex, £70k-£100k

BP is one of the world’s largest energy companies, providing its customers with fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, retail services and petro-chemical products for everyday items. BP is the world’s largest integrated oil concern, ahead of Exxon Mobil. Other major competitors include Chevron and Royal Dutch/Shell Group.

Since its acquisition of Amoco, Arco and Burmah Castrol a few years ago, BP has worked intensively to transform itself into a global energy group and to diversify its culture, given the strong operational bases that it has in the UK and USA. Outside of the US and UK, BP has significant production activities in Canada, the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, Trinidad and now India.

BP’s purpose as a Group is to provide better goods and services in the form of light, heat, power and mobility to increasing numbers of people. The business focuses on choices about assets and the markets in which to operate. In Exploration and Production, BP is seeking out long-term assets – the largest, low-cost, new hydrocarbon deposits – while managing the decline of mature fields. In the customer-facing businesses, BP looks to attract more and more customers through improved quality of products and service.

In addition, all HR activities are being challenged to improve performance, reduce cost and raise standards. An area of particular emphasis, which has the full sponsorship and commitment of the executive team, is Leadership Development. Historically BP had an enviable reputation for their activities in the area of leadership development, and the intention is to re-establish a strong function and re-design and establish a respected leadership development framework, plus supporting curriculum and models of delivery.
