L'Oréal UK is the Group's fourth largest subsidiary in Europe and fifth in the world. A significant player in the UK cosmetics market, L'Oréal has been present in the UK for 75 years and turnover in 2006 reached £626 million.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced recruitment professional who may come from either a consultancy or corporate background.   The operational aspect of this role is high and will be suited to someone capable of driving strategy for the division whilst being happy to roll their sleeves up in a hands-on environment.

Key purpose: 

  • Management and development of a team of four recruiters
  • Leadership on recruitment issues across the UK HR team, set recruitment strategy for the UK
  • Oversee graduate recruitment activities consisting of 30 graduates
  • Oversee experienced hire recruitment activities accounting for circa 150 hires per annum across a wide range of levels of seniority and function
  • Oversee the day to day management of the POOL online recruitment system and L’Oreal website
  • Develop the L’Oreal employer brand in the UK
  • Maintain the connection with international recruitment teams and Talent Recruitment team in Paris
  • As a member of the HR Management Committee, make a contribution to the development of HR best practice
  • Share responsibility for the L’Oreal diversity agenda in the UK working closely with Learning for Development

Candidate Profile 

  • Strong academic track record, educated to degree standard however CIPD is not required
  • A proven resourcing specialist, with the drive and commitment to take the initiative, address problems, find solutions and provide a positive lead for others.
  • A background in a corporate FMCG environment or consultancy recruiting in to FMCG will be strongly preferred.
  • You will need to evidence an ability to drive a direct to market strategy
  • Ability to participate in design and lead delivery of recruitment training
  • Expert in campus management and graduate recruitment – both attraction and selection
  • A strong ability to build relationships with senior operational stakeholders and to develop a good internal network
  • A track record of working closely with high calibre, high profile senior professionals with a genuine interest in the broader commercialities of the business
  • Sensitivity to the L’Oreal brand and employer brand and an understanding of recruitment advertising
  • Excellent communication skills: clear, direct and able to express ideas clearly and succinctly in ways that inspire confidence.  You will also have excellent formal presentation skills
  • High degrees of impact, personal drive, energy and resilience
  • Awareness of diversity as an issue and some expertise in managing a diversity agenda
  • Capable of managing large, complex recruitment budgets
