AMEC’s acquisition of NNC combined with its existing nuclear business, made it into one of the UK's leading independent nuclear services suppliers with over 50 years' experience in the nuclear industry. Subsequently it has operated an international company providing world-class expertise in delivering safe, high quality engineering and technical solutions, often involving safety- critical or complex technical applications across many disciplines. Their key sector is nuclear, but they also deliver successful projects in other sectors including defence, environmental, oil and gas.
Job Context
The principle focus is to deliver the emergent nuclear strategy of transformational growth and expand AMEC’s nuclear business from a niche consultancy to a programme and asset management business. Four market segments have been identified: New build; Reactor Support; Clean up; Defence.
Job Profile
Working in concert with key post holders in the company matrix, the successful candidate will lead in creating and delivering business growth. Specifically he/ she will be responsible for:
- Driving strategic growth throughout the AMEC Nuclear Business through identification, development and completion of strategic growth opportunities, e.g., Acquisition, Joint Venture, major customer outsourcing and innovative commercial proposals (e.g., solution sales ) with customers and partners. Projects may be delivered either directly from the centre of the business or by working with Business Units
- Mentoring and supporting strategic business development staff within Business Units
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have an established track record in delivery of strategic direction. He/ she must be commercially focussed and be able to plan, organise and control complex, often ambiguous inter-related events requiring sophisticated problem solving capabilities.
Essential personal qualities include demonstrable project leadership and programme delivery, excellent communication skills focused on a range of industries, Government, stakeholders, existing and potential customers, Board level and other service providers.
Team working and high energy is an expected trait of the successful candidate.
